Update for School Closure - Friday, May 1

Hello everyone,

I hope all of our families are doing well as we enter spring.  Now that our system is up and running, we have made the conscious decision to reduce our contact frequency to weekly.  We hope this meets with your satisfaction.  Last week, you should have received a phone call, email, or text home over report cards and you have been able to look at both report card comments and marks.  If this is not the case, please contact us and we will be more than happy to help you through this process.

This week, we are officially entering the final spring push to finish curriculum before the end of classes, originally slated for June 12.  We want to thank our parents for the great buy-in we have had over the past month and want to really encourage you to keep this up over the next 6 weeks.  We understand that, as the weather improves, this will become more difficult but we are asking for your support to keep the focus for just a bit longer.

Yesterday, the Alberta Government released its reopening strategy and we are now starting to get some clarity on our path forward.  As you can likely well imagine, it is practically impossible for physical attendance at school to resume this school year.  As such, our two primary focus areas right now are on trying to prevent knowledge gaps for next year and keeping our students' mental health as strong as possible.

We would also like to offer out some assistance if there are any families in need.  We have about $1000 in frozen groceries (primarily frozen meat) that the school will no longer be using this year.  If we have families that are in need and willing to take some of this product off of the schools’ hands, please contact me and we will see what we can do.  We will be giving it away on a priority needs basis.  We don’t want it to go to waste so please let us know if you could benefit from this offer.

In conclusion, we are in good shape to finish this year provided we can keep the focus and positive energy going for just a bit longer.  Thank you everyone for your efforts so far to keep our children engaged and healthy.  It is much appreciated.

Mr. Lowe
